NHW Area Co-ordinator (Copthorne)
The position of Area Co-ordinator is now vacant. If you have an interest in taking on the duties of Area Co-ordinator please get in touch via the e-mail address below. Duties will include: Maintaining and expanding the current network of road co-ordinators Liaising with PCSO Elaine Anscomb Organise the distribution of newsletters like Watchout Organise regular village meetings for the road co-ordinators Liaise with the Mid Sussex NHW committee Attend various meetings with the Police and other partner organisations Work closely with the LAT, and other village organisations Write the occasional article for the Parish Magazines Maintain the web site with up to date crime messages Other duties as you see fit to include or notYou can contact us on copthornewatch@googlemail.com
PCSO
Elaine Anscomb
Elaine Anscomb is our appointed PCSO to cover the beats of Copthorne & Worth and Crawley Down & Turner’s Hill during daylight hours.
PCSO's relieves the regular officers of duties for which the full range of powers and training is not required and will give a high visibility presence in the villages and patrol known hotspots. They are already a welcome sight.
Basic Powers
Issue fixed penalty notices if trained as Traffic Warden (They are)
Detain suspects for up to 30 minutes using reasonable force.
Require disposal of alcohol consumed in public.
Enter premises to save life or prevent serious damage to property.
Carry out PACE road checks and stop vehicles to do so.
Stop and search vehicles and belongings.
Seize vehicles used to cause alarm.
Issue fixed penalty notices for cycling on footways, dog fouling, litter etc.
Require names and addresses of suspects.
Confiscation and disposal of alcohol and tobacco from young people.
Authorise removal of abandoned vehicles.
Stop vehicles for testing.
Make traffic directions for abnormal vehicles
